Hamburg here I am
27 maart 2011 - Hamburg, Duitsland
Dear family and friends,
Saturday evening we saw Sydney and Birgitta again. Before we arrived in Hamburg there were a few ‘bumbs‘. Off coarse I should be strict now and write in Dutch. However again I rubbed my hand over my heart (I this also an English expression or do I talk nonsense).
Sunday morning early when I am writing this I am laying on my bed and looking over the Elbe and watching container ships passing. A beautiful view. My bed is the couch in the living room of Birgitta.
But back to Saturday. 9 o'clock Rob A arrived from Belgie on the Venkelgaarde in Nieuwegein. After breakfast we left after hugging my family to go to Bas in Bosch en Duin where we had coffee again. Just before leaving for Hamburg I missed my reading glasses. Ohhhh forgotten!!!!! So back to Nieuwegein. After hugging again but with my glasses at last we left for Hamburg.
But before writing more about the cartrip back to thursday. At 15 00 hours I thought ' It is all over now' . I was with Joke at her garden on the farm and was on my way to the horses. I missed an height difference between te concrete plates. I twisted my right ankle and fell down on my left knee. How stuped. I rushed to the ditch to cool my fast growing ankle. I really thought that walking 1100 km#s is not going to happen. It made me quite depressed. I could not reach my fysiotherapist Ronald but Ellen one of my friends visiting me to say goodbye suggested to contact Jan Joost an acupuncturist / fysiotherapist. He was available and fridaymorning he started ' repairing'. My knee stil hurts a little but my taped ankle behaves wonderful. However my trip did start. I will see what is possible.
On the way to Hamburg Bas, Rob A and I talked about Ton, (Sydneys father), and the adventures with him but also about his struggle not to die. He lost that battle. When we arrived at Birgitta's appartment we gave Sydney his car, a ' trap auto '. I have not the slightest idea about the English name of the Beagle. Sydney is happy and for sure he is a nice boy having a lot from Ton (and Birgitta).
In the evening we went for dinner with Birgitta while the au pair girl took care of Sydney. We talked and laughed a lot. Other guests were surprised about the noise we produced.
Very late Bas and Rob A left for their hotel. Birgitta and I left for her appartment.
Today we have walked alongside the Elbe and drank some wine with a friend of Birgitta. Really beautiful view and wearther. Also we went to a lake in the heart of the city where we had a bear and met again some friends of Birgitta.
A very nice day is ended and I will stop with a warning. Start learning Dutch NOW! Soon it is over with the rubbing over my heart.
All people who wished me a good trip, thanks a lot.
All your messages are a kind of fuel for my engine.
xxxxxxxRob
